Buses are cool, except for the fact that they’re huge and take up way more space on the road than other vehicles. Wouldn’t it be great if we could transport just as many people in something with a smaller footprint?
That’s exactly what China has done. It’s currently testing a futuristic elevated bus that features a massive cabin for up to 300 passengers that rises well above the height of most other vehicles. Meanwhile, cars and motorcycles can pass under the cabin between the wheels which are nearly 7.8m apart.

The 22 meter-long Transit Elevated Bus, aka the TEB-1, is powered by electricity and can travel at a top speed of roughly 40 mph. If its trials are successful and the vehicle is pressed into service, it should help ease traffic congestion a fair bit.
